Assembly Celebrates Harmony Day
NONE

The Geelong College has celebrated diversity and inclusiveness with an entertaining and thought-provoking Senior School Assembly this week.

The Harmony Day assembly on Wednesday 22 March began with an Acknowledgement of Country from Layla Parry and Gigi Hooper-Birch, Year 9 students with an Indigenous heritage.

Students also heard from Year 12 international students Alexis Ohyama and Thomas Yang, who spoke about their experiences settling into Australia and the College community. German exchange student Lotti Wolff-Rojcyzk also took to the stage in an interview with prefect Jack Henderson, to give us an insight into her life in Frankfurt.

Continuing the "We All Belong" theme, Old Collegian Nick Parks (OGC 1999) and his father Joe performed a variety of songs on accordion and guitar, finishing with the popular Geelong Cats club song. Nick also spoke about his family’s journey as refugees from war-time Europe to Australia.
