Escape to the Future!
NONE

“Welcome everyone to future Earth!”

With these words, the Junior School Book Week parade launched to the sounds of Rocket Man and Space Oddity.

Children and staff wowed the audience with their futuristic costumes. From shiny silver robots and green alien creatures to old grandmas and granddads, we all saw a glimpse into what our future might hold.

This week’s Book Week theme was based around one of the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s award-winning books for 2017, Mechanica, a story set years into the future. After the parade, children in multi-age groups explored this book further, as well as the other shortlisted books. They created, built, painted, and moulded their own interpretations of the stories.

A fantastic day was had by all involved, made all the more special given that our own Jo Panckridge (JS Teacher-Librarian) was one of the judges for the CBCA awards this year.
