Students Immersed in Nation's Capital

After a year of studying the Australian legal and political system, nine Year 11 Legal Studies students went on a four-day immersion to the nation’s capital, Canberra.

Over the last weekend of the holidays, students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

Students spent time exploring Old Parliament House, the National Electoral Commission, New Parliament House, the High Court, Government House, the Museum of Australian Democracy, National War Memorial, National Museum and National Gallery of Australia.

Highlights included meeting the Governor General, Major General Peter Cosgrove, acting out real political cases from history in Old Parliament House and representing the College at the Last Post Ceremony.
