College rowers have kicked off 2018 with a successful weekend at the Barwon Regatta.

The Geelong College Senior Girls' 1st IV won a tight A Final in the Girls' Coxed IV Division 3 while the boys, having missed out on the A Final by less than a second, secured first and second in the Boys' Coxed IV B final. Our rowers also finished third in the Female VIII A final and won the Male VIII B final.

In the other divisions, the highlights included a win in the Division 3 Girls' Coxed IV and a third place in the Division 2 Boys' VIII.

Director of Rowing Peter Blanchfield told the Geelong Advertiser he was rapt with the results.

“It was definitely a great start for us,” he said.

“We had a rowing camp for two weeks, so obviously the Barwon Regatta is a great opportunity for us to have a race after a pretty intense rowing camp and our senior rowers and our Year 10s have started the season off really well. We’re really pleased with how all our crews fared over the weekend.”
