Rankin Field Ready to Go

The Geelong College's tennis players are looking forward to playing on the newly laid surface of Rankin Field this weekend.

So far this year, all College tennis teams have been training and playing matches at a variety of venues around Geelong.

With the surface ready to go, a number of fixtures will take place at Rankin Field on Saturday, starting with the 2nd Girls and 3rd Girls teams at 8.30am, followed by the 3rd Boys, 10A and 10B Boys at 10.30am. Good luck to all our players!

The excitement continues on Sunday, with the Tennis Parent Support Group's Family Social Tennis Day. The day will comprise a friendly pairs competition, as well as lunch. Entries close today, Friday 2 March. For more information and an entry form, please see the TPSG Portal page.

The new surface will be a great resource for our PE and sporting programs. Works began in December and involved replacing and upgrading the entire playing surface and the rubber shock pads. The new and improved Evo Pro surface will offer more comfort and safety to the students. The slideshow above shows the project progressing from start to finish.

Our thanks go to the Director of Sport Mark Cheatley and Teacher in Charge of Tennis Debbie Filling for their efforts in the coordination of these changes, and to the parents and all involved for their support during the resurfacing.
