Watarrka Indigenous Painting Raffle Update
NONE

The Watarrka School community in the Northern Territory has thanked all those who donated to their appeal to build a new school building.

The College shares a strong connection with the Lilla school through the Fulfilling Lives program. At the end of 2017, the College raffled off an authentic Indigenous painting, raising about $5000 towards the appeal to enable Watarrka to offer secondary schooling to their young people. Many others in the College community also contributed directly to the Right 2 the Heart campaign.

The Right 2 the Heart campaign raised almost $45,000 towards the $320,000 cost of the new building. The Watarrka Foundation was able to source the rest of the funds from grants, the government, private and school donations, and the Watarrka Traditional Owners Education Group.

They hope to begin construction in June - a great step forward to improving the education and lives of their children.
