College Branches Out in First Equathon

The College competed in its first "equathon" late last term, a test of all-round ability in running, swimming and show jumping.

Olivia Richardson, Olivia Mathias and Olivia Batten worked together as a team in the Boneo Park Equathon, with Richardson taking on the cross country run, Mathias the swim and Batten the show jumping. They proved to be a formidable team, and were crowned Reserve Champions in the Team Female 16-18 years division.

Phoebe Calvert also competed in the equathon, doing all three phases herself in the Individual Female 13-15 years section. She finished an impressive 10th overall. Well done!

On the Queen's Birthday weekend, Georgie Batten competed at the Melbourne International Three Day Event in the 2* class. The youngest competitor in the class, Georgie completed successful dressage and cross country rounds, but unfortunately fell at the final fence in the show jumping.

Georgie and Olivia Batten also competed in a fancy-dress round of show jumping at the Melbourne event, where the riders rode to music, against the clock. Georgie, dressed as a penguin, managed fourth place and Olivia, dressed as a dog, cleared all her jumps including a very high joker - drawing loud cheers from the crowd!

Elsie Callahan, Ella McCann, Maddison Rogers and Mimi Lockwood have also been competing regularly in interschool dressage and show jumping.

The next major event on the interschool equestrian calendar will be the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Series (VEIS) Grand Final on 28-29 July. We wish our riders all the best!
