Community Planting Day Success

Volunteers from the College community have braved a chilly winter's day to take part in our third annual National Tree Day event.

The College Foundation's block at Merrawarp Road is now home to more than 1000 new plants after two busy mornings of planting - starting with the Year 4 students on Schools Tree Day on Friday 27 July and ending with the College Community Planting Day on Sunday 29 July.

The plants were grown by the Geelong Indigenous Nursery's John King and Kerri Bremner, using seeds collected from the same block. John was also there on Friday to educate the students about correct planting technique and the various species they had prepared for the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who spent their Sunday morning helping to revegetate the beautiful block of land on the banks of the Barwon River. Next year's National Tree Day will be on Sunday 28 July - put the date in your diary!
