College Rider Named Victorian Captain

Year 12 student Georgie Batten will have the honour of captaining Victoria at the Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Equestrian Championships in October.

Georgie will lead the state team of more than 100 riders at the national championships in Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre, which will feature more than 400 riders from across Australia.

Georgie will compete in two different disciplines at the championships - the Eventing 1* class on Irish Reign, and the Combined Training 95cm class on Millennium Park, a former racehorse that she has retrained herself.

Her selection as team captain comes after an excellent year as co-captain of the College's equestrian team. Interschool Victoria selected its leadership team based on their equestrian experience, seniority and leadership qualities.

Equestrian Victoria CEO Matthew Brown congratulated the captains: "These young people represent the pinnacle of interschool equestrian sports in Victoria and should be proud of their achievements."
