Local School Leaders Converge for Summit

School leaders from several Geelong and Surf Coast schools congregated at The Geelong College on Thursday 30 August for the second annual leadership seminar, to collaborate on ideas and methods of leadership.

From being immersed in respective roles this year and learning so much through them, the College prefects felt it was hugely beneficial to facilitate this learning through the sharing of ideas.

Our aim for the afternoon was to build familiarity with the processes of leadership in surrounding schools as well as construct a framework for next year’s leaders to build upon, strengthening the connections of this group. We were privileged enough to have the Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, Professor Jane den Hollander AO, share her views on leadership and our role to take in it in the future, a great insight into what good leadership requires.

The seminar was very successful in delivering an added support network for other captains and leaders to lean on in coming years.

From the afternoon, we have chosen the charity, Give Where You Live, for next year's group to collectively support at their respective schools. In doing so, we hope that next year’s leaders hold an earlier seminar and therefore build on this communication and involvement between schools.
