Students Shine in Legally Blonde
NONE

An incredibly talented cast and crew thrilled sell-out crowds at GPAC with The Geelong College Senior School version of the hit musical Legally Blonde last week.

Based on the 2001 Reese Witherspoon movie, Legally Blonde, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of sorority girl Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of true love and in the process finds her dream job and a new love.

Sarah McQuinn was perky, smart and heartfelt as Elle Woods, with Jax Cross a sensible and ultimately loveable Emmett. Baxter Kay was a boy band’s dream as Warner Huntington III and Jess Wynhoven was scarily East Coast as Vivienne Kensington. Lachie Osborne was unlikeable as the unpleasant Professor Callahan and Maddy Landos was a hysterical Brooke Wyndham. Emily O’Brien played a delightful Paulette Bonafonte, the hairdresser from Queens or the Bronx! That accent!! And the hunk of spunk Lachie Houen as Kyle the UPS Guy.

The Greek Chorus were all beautiful harmonies, tans and pastels as they supported Elle on her quest to Harvard, with lots of show-stopping tunes and funny one liners. Other notable characters were Zara Burrell’s Enid Hoopes, Tom Forshaw and the Frat Boys bustin' some rhymes, and how could we forget the very well-behaved Bruiser and Rufus played by Honey and Ella.

The show was colourful and entertaining, with outstanding acting, singing and dancing. Sets, costumes and props were professional and lifted the show to another level, and the staff portraits, just incredible! Everyone on and off stage outdid themselves to produce a brilliant show that audiences will not forget for a long time… O my god you guys!

Huge thanks and congratulations to Deb Hynes, Lachy Joyce, Kaz Sunderland, Dr Phil Bohun, Mark Irwin, Isabella Henricus, Simon Benz, Leanne Deahl, Tanya Speakman, Chris Price, Noah Gray and everyone else involved, bring on the next one!
