The timely refurbishment of our current pianos has given us the opportunity to become Victoria’s first, and Australia’s third, Steinway Select School. Steinway Select Schools demonstrate a full commitment to excellence by providing their students with the best instruments possible for the study of music.

They work with Steinway tuners and sound engineers to ensure brilliant acoustics, and host concerts with Steinway guest artists such as Piers Lane, Harry Connick Jnr, Lang Lang and Billy Joel, when they are in the area.

With one Steinway already at the school and plans to order more for the new Junior School at Campbell House in the future, it is our hope that all pianos at The Geelong College will be supplied by Steinway & Sons.

In 2020, we will have a Steinway Model D Concert Grand piano in the Keith Humble Centre, and it is our dream to have a Model S Baby Grand piano in Wayaperree.

The Model D is the most revered concert instrument on the market. These pianos will offer our students from Early Learning to Year 12 the opportunity to play on, and listen to, truly outstanding instruments. Steinway’s reputation is built on the history and tradition of making quality pianos that last forever, and it is a privilege to partner with Steinway & Sons in our music education here at The Geelong College.

We look forward to sharing in their knowledge and expertise, and working in synergy to create the world’s best pianists on the world’s best pianos. Please help us become a Steinway Select School by donating. Any amount will be gratefully received as we begin this wonderful musical journey with Steinway & Sons.

88 Keys Project

From its European spruce keys to its solid brass pedals, the Steinway Model D Concert Grand piano will be a beautiful addition to The Geelong College, and is a must-have for the College to become a Steinway Select School and the premium musical institution in Geelong. Housed in the George Logie-Smith Auditorium, the Model D will be used for College musical events, concerts, exams and special master classes by Steinway ambassadors.

The opportunity to buy one or more of the 88 keys on this outstanding piano will provide a legacy for generations of young musicians attending The Geelong College. The purchase of a key on the Model D will ensure The Geelong College is able to offer the best instrument possible for the study of music for our piano students.

Each key purchased gives you the opportunity to be part of the audience at musical performances held in the George Logie-Smith Auditorium in the Keith Humble Centre. You will also have the option to be acknowledged on an honour board to celebrate your contribution.

Provide the gift that we can only dream of... invest in excellence and make a commitment to the very best.

Middle C Silent Auction

Middle C is the most prominent note on any piano. The first note a young child learns and played almost constantly in nocturns, concertos and songs, it is the fundamental note on a piano.

We are offering the opportunity to bid for this significant key.

The purchase of this key will not only help secure the Model D, but also assist us in acquiring other Steinway & Sons pianos across the school. Bids can be submitted below and the winning bid will be announced on Thursday 19 September 2019.

Good luck!
