Last year, in the midst of the COVID pandemic, our generous and committed donors gave over $85,000 to our Annual Giving campaign. This incredible response was greatly appreciated and went a long way to support our students via our Scholarship Fund, the capital improvement of the Cloisters and The Geelong College Foundation Fund. Thank you to all those that gave so generously.

In 2021 our focus for the Annual Giving Campaign is these five key areas:

• Boarding Scholarships and Bursaries
• Cloisters Refurbishment
• Pegasus (Equity) Scholarships
• The Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi (Indigenous) Scholarship
• The Geelong College Foundation Fund

Each of these priorities support our students, now and into the future, and are only possible through the generosity of the College community.

Boarding Scholarships and Bursaries

Boarding has been an integral part of The Geelong College for 160 years. Generations of families have entrusted the care and education of their children to the College and in return the young adults who left at the end of their time here were grateful for the opportunities they were privileged to have. However, boarding is out of the reach of some families and they rely upon the support given from the Scholarship Fund.

Tanner Lewis Boarding Scholarship

Without a scholarship I wouldn’t have been able to experience this great school and meet such close mates who will be in my life well beyond school. I have become more independent and adaptable, and more confident meeting new people. I love the College because it offers you so many different opportunities to be your best. Thank you to everyone who made this a possibility for me.

Cloisters Refurbishment

For many Old Collegians, the Cloisters classrooms hold a special place in their memory. This beautiful space is the DNA of our school.

Over the last three years we have been painstakingly refurbishing the Cloisters classrooms which required a full makeover with new lighting, carpet, heating and cooling, painting, fittings and fixtures. In addition, the care and maintenance of the grand exterior requires ongoing attention.

We have completed the refurbishment for all classrooms on the first level and we are now working to finish all classrooms on the ground level in 2021. The last stage will be the restoration of the parapets and external façade along with the large, rendered windows above the Memorial Hall.

Pegasus (Equity) Scholarships and The Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi (Indigenous) Scholarship

The Geelong College has a rich history of supporting thousands of students through our Scholarship Fund. Scholarships enrich and diversify the student community providing benefits for all students. The Scholarship Fund continues to provide opportunities for our students who, ordinarily, would not be able to attend the College, while providing a varied social and cultural community for all of our students to learn in.

The College has two main scholarships which are supported through gifts from our community – the Pegasus (Equity) Scholarship and the Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi Scholarship. In 2021 we offered 12 Pegasus Scholarships to deserving students from Year 7 to Year 12. Our focus for the Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi Scholarship Fund is to build a substantive corpus of funds to then offer scholarships from the income in the coming years.

Lauren and Jasmine McDougall

This scholarship has meant an opportunity that I could only dream of. It has really helped my family to help me climb my ladder towards success. Being from a family of seven who live rurally, it is hard to drive everybody to their extracurricular activities or sports. Being here at the College has given me the opportunity to try debating and hockey. I love that everybody here gives everything a red hot go, currently we are doing house music, everybody is working as a team to make sure we sound good, I just think its lovely that though not all of us are good at everything, we still try our best, it’s a great environment!
