COVID-19 Announcement

The Geelong College Recreation Centre is open and operating according to Victorian Government Guidelines in phase D – 90% fully vaccinated (12+ years) from 11.59pm 18 November 2021. Patrons aged over 12 and two months must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a medical contraindication via Australian Immunisation Register to enter the Centre upon each visit.

How does this impact visitors to the Centre?

  • College students who have exclusive use to the facility will not require a Vaccination at this time.
  • College students who attend the Centre whilst there are external members in the facility, will require proof of double vaccination over the age of 12 years and 2 months.
  • All external visitors who attend the Centre will require proof of double vaccination. (12 years + 2 months are now expected to follow this requirement).
  • Users of the facility that hold a medical contraindication via Australian Immunisation Register will be given permission to enter the Centre upon sighting the exemption at entry of each visit.

How does this affect our programs?

The after school College Learn-to-Swim program for TGC students has 1 week remaining, as per the past 6 weeks this program is set up as an exclusive use to Geelong College students and will continue for these students without evidence of vaccination status.

The Temporary External Squads and Diving Classes that run on Tuesday 6:15pm - 7:15pm, Wednesday 6:15pm - 7:15pm and Friday night will be required to present evidence of vaccination on arrival for students over the age of 12 and 2 months.

Lap Swimming

Lap swimming members can now return to the Centre. Bookings for 50-minute sessions are now open.

Under the new restrictions all members will be required to:

  • Complete a booking online
  • Present evidence of vaccination status
  • QR Check in on arrival
  • Complete your swim within the set booking times

All members must follow COVID safety directions at the Centre and masks indoors at all times.

Please do not attend the Centre if you:

  • If you show any COVID-19 symptoms
  • If you have been instructed to isolate due to exposure

We have a density limit, so no spectators are allowed, swims must be completed in the allocated time and there are no change facilities, but toilets are open.

The Geelong College Recreation Centre is located in the heart of the historic Senior School campus and is easily accessible from Aphrasia St. The Centre offers a high-quality training, recreation and competition venue for students, staff and members of The Geelong College community.

Designed to FINA standards, the Centre features an eight lane 25-meter pool with variable depths and a separate diving area with three and one metre competition diving boards. The Centre has the capacity to host many aquatic activities and competitions, with a grandstand that can host approximately 250 people.

Our qualified team of recreation professionals are friendly and enthusiastic which creates an enjoyable and safe environment for individuals, groups and families.

Our Centre has been endorsed with a Lifesaving Victoria Safety Assessment Gold Accreditation for outstanding compliance and safety scores.
